With a background in antique restoration, my passion for interiors and colour naturally developed into designing and crafting empathetic paint finishes for historic, period, and listed properties.
Analysing existing paint samples, I carefully research and recreate original colour schemes and paint effects, ensuring a faithful restoration after any necessary structural repairs. This approach respects and preserves the architectural heritage of these exceptional buildings.
I hand-mix bespoke colours to produce subtly aged paint finishes for walls, ceilings, and woodwork, ensuring they harmonise with the property’s history and character.
This Victorian hall perfectly reflects the beauty of layered design, with every detail meticulously considered to reflect the rich and opulent style typical of the period.

These photos beautifully capture the meticulous process of historical interior design within this Arts and Crafts manor, showing the seamless integration of restoration and decorative techniques to achieve a rich and elegant result.
The colour palette, carefully selected to complement the period style, is applied using a glazed, multi-layered wall effect, which introduces depth and texture to the room. The ceilings, pilasters, and coving are subtly aged to enhance the room’s historical character.
The original oak panelling, has been painstakingly restored to its former glory, whilst preserving its patina. These elements combine harmoniously to create a sitting room that is not only visually stunning but also deeply respectful of the home’s architectural heritage.
Just a few examples of ageing new and restoring old.
The reclaimed oak panelling was subtly distressed, fumed and waxed perfectly emulating Jacobean oak panelling.
This original Arts and Crafts front door was in a terrible condition with various locks being cut in and fitted over the years. The brief was to fill all the damage and holes, faux paint the filler to look exactly like oak and fully restore and finish the door.
I get quite a few commissions of this kind, especially new or repaired plaster ceilings and panelling in historic and listed homes that need to look like the original that had to be replaced.
I was commissioned to paint the panels of the stairwell in this historic home.
The walls had specialist fabric wallpaper on them and the client wanted something as similar to that as possible for the panels.
The first photo shows the beginning of the commission. The second is a detail of the painted mural. Third photo is the original wallpaper to be emulated and the forth is the commission underway
