My work with paint and colour spans decades—whether it’s bespoke hand-mixed shades, historical paint restoration, traditional hand-painting techniques, or lighting and structural design. Every commission is approached as a unique work of art, ensuring an individual and carefully considered outcome.
With over 35 years of experience as an award-winning decorative artist, my expertise extends across a wide range of disciplines. I have collaborated with leading bespoke kitchen companies to develop colours and paint effects, among many other projects. However, my greatest joy comes from working directly with individuals, transforming personal kitchens into beautiful, functional spaces that reflect their owners.
At 18, after leaving Art College, I launched my first business restoring pine furniture behind my mother’s antique shop. Pine stripping was all the rage in the late 1980s—a tough but rewarding job that allowed me to work on some truly remarkable pieces. This soon led to my first shop, specialising in these beautifully restored antiques.
Working closely with such unique furniture inspired me to preserve their original painted finishes rather than strip them away, embracing their history and charm. This passion led to an incredible opportunity to move to Los Angeles, where I restored imported antiques from the UK and beyond.
Upon returning home, I opened my second interiors shop and began an 18-year rolling commission restoring Grade II-listed Parbold Hall for Sir Peter Moores. These early years laid the foundation for my career, and my original portfolio notes from the 1990s—long before smartphones—still remind me of where it all began.
My third interiors shop expanded into the emerging trend of specialist paint colours, stencilling, decorative techniques, and workshops, further refining my expertise.
Looking back, I realise that my passion for restoring spaces with sensitivity and soul began when I bought my first house at 18. Determined to create warmth and beauty in a home that had previously lacked both, I poured my growing skills into its transformation.
With my background in art and design, I developed a deep appreciation for how even the most humble spaces can be elevated through thoughtful restoration and carefully considered colour. Over the years, I have continually pushed the boundaries of interior design, with kitchens remaining a particular passion—for me, they truly are the heart of the home.
More recently, as a personal challenge, I returned to my roots in restoration, colour, paint, and furniture design to take on an entirely new kind of project: the full restoration and refit of an historical narrowboat. This endeavour pushed my skills in new directions, blending my expertise in interiors with the unique demands of life on the water.
